UNITED IRISHMEN

In 1788 the Sheares brothers visited France and formed revolutionary principles inspired by revolution in that country. Upon their return to Ireland they both joined the United Irishmen in order to express their beliefs but were betrayed by a family friend before being tried for high treason and publicly executed at Newgate Prison, London on July 14th 1798.
