In 1882 Irish emigrant Patrick Durack commenced the greatest cattle drive in Australian history, moving in the region of seven thousand cattle and two thousand horses over a distance of three thousand miles. It was an endeavour that spanned nearly two years and made Durack Australia’s richest rancher in the process.
