Nuala O’Faolain’s book, ‘Are You Somebody?: The Accidental Memoir of a Dublin Woman’, written when she was sixty years of age, chronicled her upbringing, her own struggle with alcohol and her long love affair with well-known journalist Nell McCafferty. The book had an initial print run of 1,500 copies but went on to become and international best seller. O’Faolain also wrote a follow-up memoir, ‘Almost There’ (2003), which was sandwiched between ‘My Dream of You’ (2001), and the biography, ‘The Story of Chicago May’ (2005).
