Nano Nagle was educated in France but later returned to Ireland where she went about establishing Catholic schools. Despite the fact such activity was deemed illegal, within four years, several hundred girls and boys were attending these schools and by the mid 1770s, she had established the Presentation Sisters who would continue the task of educating young people throughout Ireland.
