BOXING CHAMP. WORLD 1923 - 1925

Kilnamona’s Mick McTigue had his first professional fight in New York in 1909. A hard hitter, he fought some quality boxers such as Harry Greb, Battling Levinsky, Mick Farrell, and Tommy Loughran, but his finest moment came with when he captured the light heavyweight championship of the world from Battling Siki at the La Scala Opera House, Dublin on St. Patrick’s Day, 1923.
