PATRIOT

Convinced that constitutional agitation against British Rule was ineffective, John Mitchell founded the United Irishmen. In 1848 he was convicted of treason and having been sentenced to fourteen years imprisonment in Australia, escaped to the United States where he partook in the American Civil War.
