Jack Doyle

BOXER

“The Gorgeous Gael” Jack Doyle joined the Irish Guards in 1929, upon which time he took up boxing, later turning professional and establishing a career in the United States. It was there that Doyle met, and later married, actress Movita Castaneda. That marriage did not survive and it is said that Doyle’s good looks, generous nature and love of a drink, along with constant attention from the opposite sex, proved to be his ultimate downfall. He died in Paddington, London in December, 1978, and is buried in his native Cobh.
