Harry Boland

NATIONALIST

Harry Boland took part in the Easter Rising of 1916 before being elected as a Sinn Féin representative for South Roscommon in the 1918 general election. He sat in the newly declared Dáil Éireann and was appointed by Eamon de Valera to be principal envoy in a campaign to raise support and finances for the Irish cause in the United States. A close confidant of Michael Collins, Boland took the republican side which opposed Collins in the  civil war.
