VICTORIA CROSS RECIPIENT

During the Boer War in South Africa, George Edward Nurse together with three officers, successfully hooked a team of horses to the guns of the 66th Battery, Royal Field Artillery and lined them up for firing. Nurse himself repeated the exercise with another set of guns and for this he was awarded the Victoria Cross.
