George Bernard Shaw

DRAMATIST, LIT.CRITIC & SOCIALIST

During his life, George Bernard Shaw wrote more than sixty plays and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, also going on to receive an Oscar in 1938 for ‘Pygmalion’. Most notable amongst his plays were, ‘Fanny’s First Play’ (1911) and ‘Pygmalion’ (1912) upon which ‘My Fair Lady’ is based. In his ninetieth year, Shaw was made an Honorary Freeman of Dublin City. He died on November 2nd, 1950, aged ninety-four.
