Father Denis Faul

ROMAN CATHOLIC PRIEST & PACIFIST

Father Denis Faul is best remembered for his impartiality during the Northern Ireland troubles during which he protested vigorously against civil rights abuses by the British army and the Royal Ulster Constabulary, but also continuously condemned the killings perpetrated by the Provisional IRA. During the conflict, he served as chaplain at the infamous Maze Prison and played a decisive role in ending the plight of the hunger strikers of that institution.
