IRISH CANADIAN SPRINTER

Enniskillen ‘s Bobby Kerr emigrated to Canada with his family and later worked as a fireman whilst, during his spare time, taking part in local athletics. Having becoming the Ontario sprint champion in 1903, the following year Kerr travelled to St. Louis, Missouri to take part in the Olympics where he was eliminated in the heats of the 60, 100 and 200 metres sprint races. However, four years later in London he brought fame to Canada by winning the bronze medal in the 100 metres and gold in the 200 metres races.
